Join us on June 25th as we celebrate National Seafarers' Day. This year's theme is "At Sea for All" which aims to highlight that seafarers serve at sea not just for the shipping industry but for all of us. The purpose of the theme is let the world know that seafaring is indispensable to the world.
These seamen are standing in front of the United States Merchant Marine flag that was given to us by the Department of Transportation. Not many were given out, so we were lucky. We even got two of them.
With pride and honor, we salute our armed services and merchant mariner veterans. To all who have served in our military, thank you. The sacrifices you made in honor and duty to our country are worthy of praise.
On July 7, 2010, the Captain of the M/V OVERSEAS LUXMAR donated 45 pair of steel-toed boots to the Seafarers' Center. We will put these boots in our Thrift Shop for sale at a very affordable price for the seamen. The generosity of Captain Oliver Sherwin is very much appreciated. The M/V OVERSEAS LUXMAR is an American flag vessel.
The Corpus Christi International Seafarers' Center is a “home away from home” for foreign and domestic merchant seafarers visiting and working in the Port of Corpus Christi.
